Benefit Concert
July 29, 2008 8 pm
Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City
Canadian music artists the Wailin' Jennys will headline a benefit concert for the Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center July 29th at the Englert Theatre. Special guest Carrie Newcomer will also appear.
All proceeds will go to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation (FACF) to directly benefit the animals at the Center. The Center was severely damaged by the flood in June and has temporarily relocated to 4852 Sand Road SE. Funds will offset the costs of replacing ruined equipment and supplies used to provide care and comfort to the animals.
The price for this evening extravaganza is only $24. Tickets are available from the Englert Theatre.
You may call (319) 688-2653 or visit their website.
The Iowa flood of 2008 may have ruined many of the places we call home. This is especially true for animals, who only want a home to call their own. Please help us provide the care they need as they wait for their forever home.

Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center…
One of the organizations hard hit by the flood is our own Iowa City animal shelter. The photo tells the hard truth: despite the many volunteers who worked for days sandbagging, the water came too high and too fast. The most important thing is that all of the animals housed at the Center were safely evacuated to the Johnson County Fair Grounds. Dogs had to be housed in crates, but thanks to the unrelenting efforts of the staff and volunteers, numerous kennel runs have been set up so they can get out and stretch their legs. Thanks for the community contributions toward this effort.

The Center staff and volunteers are also caring for the many animals displaced by the flood waters. Again, you have all responded and donated a wealth of supplies. Currently, the biggest need for the Adoption Center is monetary. The move, the veterinary fees, and other untold expenses are very real and add up very quickly.
To make a donation:

You can also donate on-line, www.FACF.org or stop by Leash on Life and drop off your donation. We will make sure your gift gets to FACF. If there are other unmet needs of supplies, we’ll have an up to date list. The temporary shelter must move before the county fair begins. They are currently looking for another location. |
